Procedure: Abdominoplasty or Tummy tuck is a surgical procedure performed to remove loose skin and excess fat from the middle and lower abdomen, which is commonly caused by weight-loss or weight gain, pregnancy and menopause.
A tummy tuck will help flatten your stomach, tighten your abdominal muscles and help you gain a curvier more natural looking waistline.
Liposuction, along with a tummy tuck is sometimes recommended when wanting a great tummy result.
A low abdominal incision is made across the pubic area, from hip to hip. The upper abdominal skin is pulled down, trimmed, and the remaining skin is sutured together. A second incision is made, and a new opening is made for the belly button.
Nights in hospital: Approximately 3-5
Duration of procedure: 4- 6 hours
Recommended stay in Phuket: 10-14 days
Post-operative care: The days following your procedure, you will be encouraged to rest. Your surgeon and nurse will advise you to be in a bent over position while laying and walking to minimise the strain on the abdominal area and reduce the pulling sensation across your abdomen.
A surgical garment for support must be worn the months following surgery. This is not provided, however your nurse from Elegance Abroad can assist you with this purchase.
Any surface sutures that require removal will be removed approximately 5-7 days after surgery.
It is important the weeks following surgery not to do any strenuous activity including heavy lifting, bending or straining. Most people are comfortable returning to work 3 weeks after surgery, however it is important to discuss this, along with all post op care, with your surgeon.
